Shoes made for wide feet
Wide feet are broader across the ball of the foot, the area between the big toe joint and the little toe joint. There is nothing wrong with that shape. The problem is that most shoes are built on narrow, standard lasts, and squeezing into them can lead to blisters, calluses, bunion pain and general foot fatigue.
KURU wide shoes give your forefoot the room it needs without letting your heel slip. Women's wide is C+ and men's wide is E+, which many other brands label as 2C, CC, W, 2E or EE.
Why a wide toe box matters
Your toes should be able to lie flat and spread naturally with every step. A wide toe box gives them that space, which takes pressure off bunions, hammer toes and the ball of the foot. Every KURU shoe is built with a roomy toe box, and our wide styles add even more room across the forefoot.
What to look for in shoes for wide feet
- A generous toe box: you should be able to wiggle your toes freely.
- Real arch support: extra width only helps if your foot is supported underneath.
- A stable, well-designed sole: a wider base spreads your weight evenly.
- A secure closure: laces or straps keep your foot from sliding forward and jamming your toes.
The KURU difference
Most shoes are flat inside. Every KURU shoe is built with patented KURUSOLE, which flexes to cup your heel and absorb impact with each step. KURUCLOUD foam cushions your stride, and our ULTIMATE INSOLES mold to your foot over time. Together, those three layers give wide feet the room, comfort and support they need all day.
Not sure if you need wide shoes?
If regular shoes feel tight, leave marks on your feet, or cause blisters along the sides, you may need a wide width. Our guide, Do I need wide shoes?, shows you how to measure your feet at home. You can also shop women's wide shoes or men's wide shoes directly.

Wide toe box shoes have extra room at the front of the shoe, so your toes can lie flat and spread out instead of being pressed together. That space reduces pressure on bunions, hammer toes and the ball of the foot. Every KURU shoe has a roomy toe box, and our wide styles add even more room across the forefoot.

All KURU shoes are built with a roomy toe box, so many people with a large toe box are comfortable in our standard width. If you need more room, choose a wide width: C+ for women and E+ for men. Shop the women's wide and men's wide collections to see every style available in wide.

All of our styles come in medium (standard) width, many come in wide, and ATOM 2 is also available in X-Wide. Women’s medium is B, wide is C+ (other brands may say C, 2C, CC or W), and X-Wide is [women’s X-Wide letter width]. Men’s medium is D, wide is E+ (other brands may say E, 2E, EE or W), and X-Wide is [men’s X-Wide letter width]. Each product page lists fit notes and width measurements.
-
Yes. ATOM 2 is now available in X-Wide, our roomiest fit, in women’s sizes 5–12 and men’s sizes 7–15. X-Wide gives you more room across the forefoot and toe box than our standard wide width. Shop women’s ATOM 2 X-Wide or men’s ATOM 2 X-Wide.

Signs include tightness across the ball of your foot, blisters or calluses on the sides of your feet, and toes that feel squeezed by the end of the day. To check, trace your foot on paper, measure the widest part across the ball of your foot, and compare it to a Brannock size chart. Our guide, Do I need wide shoes?, walks through it step by step.

They can make them more comfortable. A wider toe box gives your toes room to spread and takes pressure off sore spots. Wide shoes don't treat these conditions, so talk to a podiatrist or other healthcare professional about a full treatment plan.

Often, yes. Ligaments and tendons loosen over time, which can let the foot flatten and spread. Weight changes, swelling and pregnancy can also make feet wider. If your usual size suddenly feels tight, measure your feet again before you buy.
